Product Overview

KV Electronics Ferrite Core Antennas use high-permeability ferrite rods to concentrate the magnetic component of radio waves, dramatically improving signal reception compared to air-core designs. The ferrite rod's high magnetic permeability pulls magnetic field lines into itself, inducing a stronger voltage in the wound coil.

How It Works

  1. Magnetic Flux: Radio waves consist of electric and magnetic fields. The ferrite rod has high magnetic permeability, meaning it "pulls" the magnetic field lines into itself.
  2. Induction: As the magnetic field passes through the rod, it induces a small voltage in the coil of wire wrapped around it.
  3. Resonance: This coil is usually connected to a variable capacitor, forming a Tuned Circuit that allows the radio to select a specific frequency.

Key Features

  • Ferrite material: Mn-Zn (low frequency) or Ni-Zn (high frequency)
  • Frequency range: 100kHz – 30MHz (AM/LW/MW/SW)
  • High initial permeability: μi = 400 – 10,000
  • Fly-wire and through-hole bobbin versions
  • Custom rod diameter, length, and coil turns
  • Operating temperature: −40°C to +85°C

Applications

  • AM/LW/MW portable radio receivers
  • RFID reader antenna coils (125kHz, 134kHz)
  • NFC and contactless card systems
  • Wireless sensor networks
  • Direction-finding equipment
